The son of George and Winona Kirk, Jim grew up in Iowa but longed for a bigger, better horizon. With a rap sheet a mile long, his prospects weren't too bright. Then a captain named Pike gave him a dare he couldn't turn down, and the next thing he knew, he was sitting on a shuttle to San Francisco next to his drunk best-friend-to-be.

From there, they took on the universe together.

Three short years later, Jim was captain of the USS Enterprise, the flagship of the fleet and the youngest captain in Starfleet's history. With the most brilliant crew imaginable, they set out to explore the galaxy.
